FROM CONCEPTION TO DELIVERY
I spoke about doing an exhibition long before actually getting it done
the idea for crashtest came on a solo trip to Etretat, Normandy
here are the first words I wrote about it
for this project, I was strongly inspired by the exhibitions I'd seen all along my life
more so by the idea of a retrospective, even though I'd only been doing photography for a few years
I wanted the reading of my photography to be simple for the viewer and not be vaguely conceptual
It allowed me to go through all of my photos from when I started to the present time and choose my favorite ones
the next step was finding a venue
I was preparing a keynote presentation so that all the ideas and inspirations were organized
everything was coming together and the concept was born
CRASHTEST
I found the venue
Rue française
a 3 level gallery with large windows right in the center of Paris
i got the owner's contact through my dad who had brought me to the space several times to attend Jazz concerts
the process took longer than expected but I was able to negotiate a price for 9 days
1 day setting up 7 days exhibition and 1 day cleaning up
It was set for April 6-13 2023

event organized by Rue Francaise themed around bananas
to be honest when I saw the venue I immediately knew I wanted to use it for the exhibition
but the space was big, too big for a first solo exhibition
i have many talented people around me that i was thinking of inviting to showcase their work
But it was my project so I didn't expect them to pay, it allowed me to have all the freedom in how I wanted to direct it
an opportunity to exhibit your work in a dedicated space free of charge
all the more reason to give it your best
the situation was a win win for everybody
